Celebrating National Agriculture Awareness Week, farmers and consumers enjoyed a breakfast together to raise awareness of what farmers are paid for their produce. A controversy has erupted over the tiny date stamped on the milk container in your refrigerator. Core-Mark International Inc., a major food marketer and distributor, backed by some convenience stores and independent groceries, has asked the state Board of Livestock to drop Montana's regulation requiring a 12-day sell-by date on milk containers. I read the obituaries. At 89, I seek to see if any of my contemporaries have been fingered by fate. Of those few I recognize, I dwell on the memory of them.
